Pick a custom template

Custom templates are how a recurring event — like an annual gala built around a client's own master plan — gets to keep its exact structure every time you run it again.

Custom templates vs. event types

A built-in event type builds a plan out of workstreams, and the Plan step lets you tailor it: pick a level of detail, then add or remove workstreams. A custom template is built for your organization, often from a spreadsheet a client already uses. It carries its own fixed list of buckets and tasks, plus any extra options it defines.

Picking one in the wizard

On Step 1 of New Event, custom templates are listed under Custom Templates, below the event types. Pick one and continue. Because its task list is fixed, the Plan step just confirms there's nothing to configure. Details, Team and Review work the same as for any event.

Template-specific options

Custom templates can define their own extra Event Options beyond the three fixed ones (RSVP, Tickets, Sponsorship) — for example Auction, Childcare, Raffle, or Volunteers. Each shows up as its own switch on the Details step, with the task count it represents shown right next to it.

These switches behave differently once the event exists. Turning a template option on or off after the event is created adds or deletes its tasks — it's not a simple show/hide like the three fixed options. See how that works before you flip one off.
