Buckets and skills, explained
Two words come up everywhere in this app: buckets and skills. They're two sides of the same idea, and once you have them straight, task assignment stops feeling like magic.
Buckets are task groups
A bucket is a category of work, such as Marketing, Logistics or Finance. Every task belongs to exactly one bucket. Your workspace picked a starting set when it was set up, and new events add more. The workstreams you choose when you create an event bring their own buckets, and when an owner or admin creates the event, those buckets are added to Settings → Task buckets for next time.
Buckets can have two levels. A broad bucket like Logistics can hold sub-buckets such as Venue & Site or Food & Beverage.
Skills are buckets you can own
A skill is a bucket name attached to a person. Skills aren't typed in. You pick them from your workspace's bucket list. Giving Dana the Marketing skill means one specific thing: Marketing tasks should go to Dana.
Same list, two views. Settings → Task buckets manages the buckets themselves (add, rename, merge, set a default owner). A person's row on the Team page manages which buckets they hold as skills.
Broad or precise skills
In the skills picker, a broad bucket shows "matches any of N". Tick it and that person matches every sub-bucket under it, which suits a small team where one person covers all of Logistics. Expand it to tick individual sub-buckets instead when you want tasks routed precisely.
Why this matters day to day
When an event is created, each task goes to whoever on that event has the matching skill, with no manual assigning. If a whole bucket keeps landing on the wrong person, or on the organization owner, it almost always means nobody on that event has the matching skill yet. The fix is on the Team page, not the task itself.
