Rename or merge a task bucket

OWNER · ADMINUpdated 23 Sep 2026·2 min read

Settings → Task buckets is the organization-wide list behind every task group on every event, shown with how much each bucket is actually used.

The buckets table

Each row shows a bucket's default primary and secondary owner, its open and total tasks, and how many events use it, so you can see whether a bucket is in use before changing it. Filter the list by name, or add a bucket.

Renaming a bucket

Renaming updates the matching skill on everyone who has it, so nobody's skills break.

Existing events keep the old name. Tasks already on events stay under the bucket's old name. To move those tasks under a new name as well, create the bucket with the new name and merge the old one into it.

Merging instead of deleting

Merge into… folds one bucket into another. Every event's tasks in that bucket move to the destination bucket, and people's skills follow. The merged bucket's default owners aren't carried over, so check the destination's defaults afterwards.

A bucket can only be deleted when no active (unarchived) event still uses it. If it's in use, merge it into another bucket instead.
